School Holiday Programs

We are excited to launch our April 2024
Biala School Holiday Group Calendar.

Given the popularity in previous school holidays, we will be offering families another Assessment Clinic. Families can book in for an individual 1:1 assessment for their children, as outlined below.

Biala Holiday Assessment Clinic:

For children aged to 12 years. Biala is offering one off assessments for children in Psychology (Functional Assessments with a Psychologist), Speech (with a Speech Pathologist), Occupational Therapy (with an Occupational Therapist) or Early Developmental Assessment (with a Specialist Early Childhood Teacher).

All assessments will include an initial phone consult, 1-1 session, written report and feedback session which will all take place in the school holiday period. Assessments are based on best practice with a focus on capacity building for the child, parent and any professionals who support the child. Places are limited so please book in early to avoid disappointment. The aim of the assessment clinic is to provide recommendations to families or other professionals supporting the child.

Aquatic Intensive (OT):

3 day intensive aquatic program which encourages motor development, supports effective sensory processing, and develops social interaction, play & communication skills.

Sensory Play:

A fun and engaging session for children aged 2-4 years and their parent/caregiver to play and explore a variety of different sensory experiences.

Parents will be encouraged to support their children to discover different sensory activities whilst also developing their fine motor skills, language, play and social connections with others.

This session will be facilitated by Biala staff and parents/ caregivers are required to be with their child throughout the session. We look forward to seeing you there!

Biala Builders:

For children aged 5-10. Through a shared interest in Lego, Minecraft and other construction-based play and activities, children will be supported to engage and build on social skills. Targeted skills include sharing resources and ideas, negotiating and communicating with peers to achieve a goal together, fine motor control, in-hand manipulation, and bilateral coordination.

Game on:

For children aged or ages 6-12 years. Children will have an opportunity to connect with peers through a shared interest in gaming. During the group children will get to share and explore their passion for games like Minecraft and Roblox with others while practising social skills such as turn taking, following instructions and listening to peers.

Dino Discovery:

For children aged 5-8. Through a shared interest in dinosaurs, children will have the opportunity to practise social skills in a supported group setting and explore and share their passion for dinosaurs with others, practising turn taking, sharing, following instructions, and building on pretend play skills.

Crafternoon:

For children aged 7-12. Join us for Scrapbooking! Children will be encouraged to explore their creativity, imagination and self-expression and be supported to develop various skills.Targeted skills include fine motor skills, specifically motor control – required for colouring inside lines or tracing, scissor skills and pincer grasp. Children will have opportunities to develop their attention and sustained concentration to tasks and social skills, such as working together to create a collaborative project with a group, navigate conflict and share ideas. Children will also practise identifying emotions and self-regulation through play, art, craft, and mindfulness.

Biala Ball Stars:

For children aged 7-12. Facilitated by Occupational Therapists this is a group based therapy program designed to support children to build on their gross motor skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and their ability to follow instructions and rules within ball sports and other gross motor activities.

Rhythm & Rhyme:

For children aged 3-6 years. This program offers little musicians the opportunity to explore sounds and rhythms in a playful way through the use of their bodies, their voices and percussion instruments. The program focuses on language development and sound formation through popular children rhymes and songs. It will explore natural sounds as well as offering children the opportunity to work together to create rhythms with instruments and the use of their bodies.

Kitchen Antics:

For children aged 5-7 & 8-12. Kitchen Antics is designed to promote children’s interest in cooking, new and different foods, understanding ‘garden to table’, the sequencing involved in preparing food, a willingness to try new foods and enjoyment in shared experiences with peers.

Boogie @ Biala:

For children aged 6-10 years. Boogie @ Biala is based on a shared interest in dancing and music, children will engage in a number of rhythm and music based activities, including dance routines and collaborative games to increase their body awareness, develop their confidence to learn dance based skills and support their ability to collaborate with other peers.
