Biala Ball Stars - Program of Support

Biala Ball Stars is group based therapy program and provides children with opportunities to participate in modified team sports such as basketball and soccer Group Goal: To assist children to build on their coordination, gross motor skills, teamwork and sportsmanship within ball sports and other gross motor activities.

Biala Adventurers - Program of Support

Program of Support - Biala Adventurers provides children with a structured, inclusive environment to develop their social skills and connections through creativity and imagination. Group Goal: To encourage children to create their own characters/heroes within a group scenario, promoting the development of social skills, accepting change, following the ideas/direction of others, turn taking, communication and expression of ideas. Parents will be encouraged to support their children in home activities.

Biala Ball Stars

For ages 7-12. Biala Ball Stars is group facilitated by Occupational Therapists and is based therapy designed to support children to build on their gross motor skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and their ability to follow instructions and rules within ball sports and other gross motor activities.

Biala Besties - Program of Support

For ages 6-9. Biala Social Groups provide a supported space for neurodivergent children to connect with each other while exploring and developing their own communication, social and regulation needs. The Biala Besties group is based on the child’s developmental needs and preference of engaging in social interactions and includes typical activities such as Arts and Craft and dance based games (i.e., musical statues)

Biala Buddies (Group 1) - Program of Support

For ages 7-12. Facilitated by Occupational Therapists. Biala Social Groups provide a supported space for neurodivergent children to connect with each other while exploring and developing their own communication, social and regulation needs. The Biala Buddies group is based on the child’s developmental needs and preference of engaging in social interactions. Typical activities in this group include movement (i.e., tiggy/tag), construction based activities, (i.e., Lego).

7-12 year olds. Facilitated by Occupational Therapists. Biala Holiday Assessment Clinic

Assessment Clinic: Biala is offering one off assessments for children with either an occupational therapist or Specialist Early Childhood Teacher (ECT). The aim of the assessment clinic is to provide recommendations to families or other professionals supporting the child.

Boogie @ Biala

For ages 6-10. BOOGIE @ BIALA is based on a shared interest in dancing and music, children will engage in a number of rhythm and music based activities, including dance routines and collaborative games to increase their body awareness, develop their confidence to learn dance based skills and support their ability to collaborate with other peers.

Crafternoon

For ages 7-12. In the Crafternoon program children will be encouraged to explore their creativity, imagination, self-expression and be supported to develop various skills.

Dino Discovery

For ages 5-8. During Dino Discovery, through a shared interest in dinosaurs, children will have the opportunity to practise social skills in a supported group setting and explore and share their passion for dinosaurs with others, practising turn taking, sharing, following instructions, and building on pretend play skills.

Early Childhood Huddles

The Early Childhood Huddle is a program for pre-school aged children (2-6 years old) that is run by a team of specialists – consisting of an Occupational Therapist, a Speech Pathologist and a Specialist Early Childhood Educator. The team works with you and your child individually as well as in a small group setting. The program is designed to combine individualised support for your child’s development with a small group setting to practice new skills and meet other families to form social connections and informal support structures.

Fun with Friends - Program of Support

For ages 8-12. Facilitated by Occupational Therapists. Biala Social Groups provide a supported space for neurodivergent children to connect with each other while exploring and developing their own communication, social and regulation needs. The Fun with Friends group is based on the child’s developmental, preference of engaging in social interactions and the dynamics of the group. Typical activities include arts and craft while facilitating conversations that may arise, e.g., how to identify bullying and ways to respond, how to respectfully express ourselves or advocate for self when there is a difference of opinion, and identifying own triggers in social situations and developing appropriate regulation strategies.

Game On

For ages 6-12. Children will have an opportunity to connect with peers through a shared interest in gaming. During the group children will get to share and explore their passion for games like Minecraft and Roblox with others while practising social skills such as turn taking, following instructions and listening to peers.

Kitchen Antics

2 Sessions: For ages 5-8 & 9-12. Kitchen Antics is designed to promote children’s interest in the following: cooking new and different foods understanding ‘garden to table’, the sequencing involved in preparing food, a willingness to try new foods and enjoyment in shared experiences with peers.

Mega Art Masters

For ages 7-12. Mega Art Masters provides children with the opportunity for creative exploration, self-expression, and social connection. Through a collaborative and child-lead art making process, children will work together to create a large-scale canvas using paint and collage materials. Children are invited to create their own unique design on a shared canvas, having the opportunity to be inspired by the artistic expression of their peers. They will also have the opportunity to experience a sense of mastery and achievement by viewing their finished mural which will be displayed at Biala.

Play Together - Program of Support

The PLAY TOGETHER 2024 program of support is facilitated by an Early Childhood Teacher and has been developed with 2-5 year old, pre school children in mind. The focus is on communication, social and play skills in a play based group setting. Fine/gross motor activities will be provided as well as toys to encourage cooperative and shared play.

Is your child needing some extra support with their transition to Prep in 2024? Then come and join our pre class simulation program which focusses on developing school readiness skills incl. fine motor, social, playground skills, managing belongings, following school routines and tabletop activities.

Ready Set Go - Program of Support

2024 Program of Support - Terms 2, 3 & 4 Ready Set Go is designed to support children transitioning to school and to:1. Assist children to develop the skills necessary for successful transition into school. (Foundation/Prep level) 2. Provide families with some strategies and resources to best support their child through this transition.Group Goal: For the children to develop their social, emotional, language and motor skills that will support the transition into school. This includes skills such as sharing and playing with others, following instructions and using language skills to tell stories and ask questions.

Rhythm & Rhyme

For 4-7 years. This program offers little musicians the opportunity to explore sounds and rhythms in a playful way through the use of their bodies, their voices and percussion instruments. The program focuses on language development and sound formation through popular children rhymes and songs. It will explore natural sounds as well as offering children the opportunity to work together to create rhythms with instruments and the use of their bodies.

SEA Bridge - Program of Support

For 6-12 year olds. Facilitated by a Biala Speech Pathologist and Occupational Therapist. The SEA Bridge is a neurodiversity-affirming, strength-based program to support your child. Created by autistic and neurodivergent adults for autistic and neurodivergent youth, your children will gain confidence in authentically expressing themselves and advocating for their needs.

The Secret Agent Society (SAS) Small Group is an evidence-based social-emotional skill development program. It is designed to help children aged 8-12 years with a disability who struggle with social participation and emotional recognition and regulation.

Sensory Play

For 2-4 year olds. Sensory Play is a fun and engaging session for children aged 2-4 years and their parent/caregiver to play and explore a variety of different sensory experiences.Parents will be encouraged to support their children to discover different sensory activities whilst also developing their fine motor skills, language, play and social connections with others.
